1) The general term of a sequence is 7-3n. List out the five terms of that sequence. Answer: Sequence= 7-3n If n=1, then 7-3n= 4 If n=2, then 7-3n= 1 If n=3, then 7-3n= -2 If n=4, then 7-3n= -5 If n=5, then 7-3n= -8 Therefore, fove terms of sequence= 4,1,-2,-5,-8. 2) Shui Wah is the tutor of Chi Keung. The tutorial fee is $120 per hour. Each time, Shui Wah has $10 travel allowance. Chi Keung has 4 tutorial lessons in July. The total fee is $880. How many hours does Chi Keung have? Answer: Tutorial fee= $120 per hour Allowance= $10 No. of lessons in a month= 4 Therefore, total allowance= 4*$10= $40 Let the no. of hours be x. Therefore, 120x*4+10*4= 880 480x+40= 880 480x= 840 x= 1.75 Therefore, Chi Keung has 1.75 hours (1 hour and 45 minutes) 3) Solve the equation of the following questions. a) 1/3y+2y=14 y (1/3+2)= 14 y= 14/(1/3+2) y= 6 b) 1/3(2m6+1)-1=1-m ( I believe "2m6" means "2m*6, right?) 1/3 (12m+1)= 1-m+1 12m+1= (2-m)*3 12m+3m+1-1= 6-3m+3m-1 15m= 5 m= 1/3 4) A, B, C have a total of 60kg rice. If A has one third of the rice of B and B has 5 times as much as C. Find the amount of rice each person has. Answer: Let amount of rice A have= a (kg) Then amount of rice B have= 3a (kg) Then amount of rice C have= 3/5a (kg) Therefore, a+3a+3/5a= 60 4.6a= 60 a= 13 and 1/23 (kg) Then, 3a= 39 and 3/23 (kg) Then, 3/5a= 7 and 19/23 (kg) Therefore, A have 13 and 1/23 (kg) of rice, B have 39 and 3/23 (kg) of rice and C have 7 and 19/23 (kg) of rice. 5) In September, there are 37 students in F.5C. In October, the number of students in F.5C became 39. Find the percentage increase. (correct the answer to 3 significant figures) Answer: Percentage increase= (New amount of people-Original amount of people)/ Original amount of people*100% Therefore, Percentage increase= (39-37)/37*100%= 5.41% (corr. to 3 sign. fig.)
